Year 4 Newsletter, Term 2 2017 |
Kia ora, malo e lelei, kia orana, fakalofa lahi atu, ni hao, bula vinaka. Welcome back to Term 2 and a special welcome to our new families at Elm Park School. We look forward to an exciting, busy term of learning. |
Important dates this term: Week 1 Fri 5th May EPS Birthday Party and Inquiry Launch Day (11am-1pm - whānau welcome) Week 2 Mon 8th May Bike Skills starts (5 week programme) Week 6 Tues 5th June Queen’s Birthday Holiday Week 7 Tues 13th June School Photos Week 10 Thur 6th July Matariki Workshop at Auckland Museum Fri 7th July Term 2 ends (3pm) |
Our learning focus for the term: Given that it is Elm Park School’s 50th Jubilee this year, our learning focus this term will be centred around the theme of celebrations and remembrances. A Matariki workshop at the Auckland museum will add to our inquiry learning. We will be continuing with e-Portfolios as a means of keeping you up to date with your child’s learning. It would be fantastic if you post comments on your child’s blog. For your convenience, we can arrange for you to be emailed each time new work is uploaded. If you would like this set up, please contact either the office or your class teacher. We also encourage you to leave comments on the work that you view. The students love to receive your feedback. Student e-Portfolios can be accessed on the Class Pages via the school website. We recommend bookmarking this link for easy future access! Useful information |
Uniforms: We ask for your support to help our students show pride in their Elm Park School uniform. Please ensure that your child is in the correct school uniform and that all items of clothing are clearly named. If your child is unable to wear the correct uniform, please send along a note to your class teacher and they will be issued a uniform pass until the issue can be rectified. | Bike Skills: This term we have been fortunate to have the team from the Auckland Council come to teach our students bike skills. The programme runs for five sessions, and our students are learning about safety and riding skills. | Being prepared for the day: It helps the children prepare for the day if they are in school before the 8.55 am bell. Children can come into rooms when the bell rings at 8.30am. |
Library: Your child will visit the school library every week. Please ensure that the borrowed book is returned promptly, before the next visit to the library. We trust that the library books that are taken home will be looked after. | Activity Payment The activity is $100 per year which you can pay in total or talk to the office about a payment plan. This amount covers costs of trips and/or groups visiting our school. We have a trip to the Auckland Museum at the end of this term and it is important that the activity fee is paid promptly to enable your child to be able to take part in this visit. | EPS 5oth Jubilee This year is very special as Elm Park School will celebrate its 50th jubilee. The main celebration will be held on Saturday 28 October with many other activities planned throughout the year.
